A Summer Summary
This summer has been very successful in means of getting out on the water training as well as participating in some racing. Soon after my A levels finished I took part in the Classic Channel Regatta which left from my home port of Dartmouth. Sailing on 'Gerunuk' my Contessa 26, double handed with a friend of mine, we managed to win both the 110 mile race to Paimpol in France as well as our class (modern classics) overall.

Work off the water has also progressed massively. Due to the influx of more sponsors both product and financial, the project has really started to come to life, with 3 of the 5 gold sponsorships now sold. Over the winter I have also teamed up with my charity for the voyage, Toe in the Water. Having seen first hand the incredible work they do whilst racing against them in the J80's I decided to use the project to raise both awareness and funds for them.
Media coverage surrounding the project has also increased, having featured in sailing magazines such as Yachting Monthly, numerous local newspapers and magazines such as Devon Life as well as a 2 minute piece for the local news when 'Gerunuk' was first launched at the beginning of the summer. Right now I am just about to start work in a sail loft through the winter to develop further my skills in sail making and repairs, where in the evenings I will set about making myself a new set for 'Gerunuk'. I will also carry on doing deliveries to gain both experience and to earn some money, as well as finishing off my Yachtmaster qualification and carrying out more refit work before I re-launch her at the beginning of May sometime.
